  3. How to Create Strong, Secure Passwords

For Both Windows and Mac Users

  1. Use a Long Password:

    • Aim for at least 12–16 characters.
    • The longer the password, the harder it is to guess.
  2. Include a Mix of Characters:

    • Use uppercase and lowercase letters: (e.g., A, a).
    • Include numbers: (e.g., 1, 2, 3).
    • Add special symbols: (e.g., @, #, $, %).

    Example: S3cur3!P@ssw0rd

  3. Avoid Personal Information:

    • Do not include your name, birthday, or other easily guessed details.
  4. Use a Passphrase:

    • Combine random words with symbols for an easy-to-remember, secure password.
      Example: B!gTurtle8*SkyTree#
  5. Test the Strength:

    • Use online tools like How Secure Is My Password (but don’t enter your actual password—use a similar one) to evaluate its strength.
  6. Update Passwords Regularly:

    • Change passwords every 3–6 months, especially for sensitive accounts.
